Dating safely
Most people on Saathi are here for the same reasons you are. These habits — and the tools built into the app — help you spot the few who are not.
In an emergency, call 112 (all-India emergency). Women's helpline: 181. Cyber crime: 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
Before you meet
- Look for the Verified badge. It means the person's live selfie matched their photos. You can ask a match to verify before you meet.
- Talk on Saathi first. A voice or video call in the app lets you check someone is who they say they are, without sharing your number.
- Keep personal details private — your home or office address, daily routine, financial details and family information — until you trust someone.
- Never send money. No genuine match will ask for money, gift cards, UPI transfers, recharges or crypto, however convincing the story (a medical emergency, a stuck customs parcel, a "guaranteed" investment). Report them.
- Be wary of rushing. Pressure to move to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately, declarations of love within days, or excuses to never video call are common warning signs.
When you meet
- Meet in a busy public place, such as a café or mall, and arrange your own transport there and back.
- Turn on Safe Date in the chat. Saathi shares your venue and live location with your trusted contacts and checks in with you; if you don't respond, we alert them.
- Keep your phone charged and stay in control of your drink and belongings.
- Leave whenever you feel uncomfortable — you do not owe anyone an explanation.
- Use the SOS button during a Safe Date to alert your trusted contacts with your location immediately.
Online
- Saathi blocks screenshots in chats on Android, but anything you send could still be photographed. Share intimate content only if you are comfortable with that risk — and never under pressure.
- If someone threatens to share your images (sextortion), do not pay. Stop responding, keep evidence, report them in the app and at cybercrime.gov.in. We remove non-consensual intimate images within 24 hours of a report.
- Never share OTPs, passwords or bank details with anyone. Saathi will never ask for them.
Report and block
If someone makes you uncomfortable, breaks our guidelines or seems fake, use ⋯ → Report on their profile or chat. Reporting is confidential. Blocking hides you from each other immediately. You can also close a chat kindly with a polite message instead of ghosting.
